Figure Skating must GO

Really, it isn't even the skating that bothers me as much as the commentary. Last night's Chinese pair that won the silver after wiping out made for good TV, Dick Button waxing on about FLARE is just BAD.

I need a lot more coverage of cross country skiing or anything that contains it (biathlon, Nordic Combined, etc.). Any sport where the competitors cross the finish line and fall over into the snow in a heap is alright by me. These guys are tough. What can you do for us Karen?

There is something inherently bizarre about judged sports.

I agree, i don't know if you caught the explanation about how the new skating scoring is done but it has a shocking level of complexity.

I agree on not being a big fan of "judged sports", the Doc and I were talking about this the other night...Warning, he's Hard Core "ANTI" judged sports. We're talking "Metric Time" / "Radios in the Peleton" Pasionate!

I'd love to weigh in on this one, but I work with athletes in every sport! I was wondering what the coverage back in the States is like. It's nice having the "live feed" because we don't have any commentary. Are yall getting any hockey or Nordic events, or only the "glamor" sports?

We got a little women's hockey on the first night and a little Nordic but lately it seems like short track speed skating, figure skating, snowboarding, and moguls/freestyle skiing.

I caught some alternate coverage of the biathlon, crosscountry skiing and the nordic combined which was AWESOME. Also, the short track team relay is crazy, kind of like a cycling madison on crack. Very cool

That's funny that you made the correlation between short track speedskating and track cycling. One of my good friends is a short tracker and "cross-trained" by racing on the National Track Cycling Team a couple of years ago! The mentalities are pretty similar.

The speeds are so similar too. We were comparing the kilo times on the large oval to cyclists and they were close.

I thought the Italian's performance the other night was particularly impressive in the 1500 with only a half a second deviation between his first and third lap.

The commentary on the figure skating drove me up the wall. I am a fan of the sport, and previously skated when Amy was a baby. I like the music and I can figure out (no pun intended) what it's all about, thank you very much Scott Hamilton!!!!Oy Vay! I had to turn the sound way down, and then could only imagine the music! Sam says fire all the commentators! Well, I feel better.........
