Amy's Tri Debut

Saturday was Amy's debut in a swim/bike/run tri and she kicked butt, finishing third in her age group. Ryan and i were there for moral support and to take these photos. The start was staged with swimmers entering the pool 10 seconds apart which kept the mayhem to a minimum. The bike leg was a loop with a small hill in it, and then the final run ended up at the Cajun Dome. It was a really good time, fun hanging out after, and great to see Amy race so well.

Oh yeah and i almost forgot the best part, Dwyer's Sweet Potato Pancakes on the way home. Very nice.

You cannot stop Amy Alexander, you can only hope to contain her.

Thank you for taunting me with Steen's Pure Cane Syrup. Do you need my mailing address to ship a can?

this was my first time with the sweet potato pancakes, previously i'd stuck with their wheat cakes, which are fine also, it's a definite Lafayette A.M. stop.

Ah fond memories, of the early days when Amy and i had just started dating, she was in her Masters program and i was the front man for an acid-punk-reggae fusion band trying to fund my cycling habit by carving little sculptures from raw potatoes... begin flashback sequence now...

Lance, shoot me your mailing address and i'll do what i can. I've been enjoying a different brand of cane syrup from our local produce stand, good stuff that is completely necessary.

Yeah Amy!! Lafayette was the setting for my very first triathlon also! Great memories. . .
Congratulations on your placing, I always knew you'd make a great tri-geek!

Thanks, everyone! For me, this was more like a pentathlon, since Ryan insisted on nursing before the swim and immediately after the run (nurse, swim, bike, run, nurse)! It was a great time...I think I am hooked.
